Description

BONFIX OVERFLOW VALVE:

FOR A SAFE HEATING SYSTEM. A pressure relief valve is part of the heating system and activates when the pressure in the system exceeds approximately three bar. The pressure relief valve is also sometimes called a safety valve. It is therefore intended to protect against overpressure in central heating and drinking water systems. This pressure relief valve has been tested by TNO and found to be safe.

HOW DOES AN OVERFLOW VALVE WORK?

A pressure relief valve has a valve that is held closed by a spring. When the pressure exceeds a certain value, the spring compresses and opens. This system is also called a spring-loaded valve. A pressure relief valve has a fixed value or can be adjusted to a specific pressure. For most central heating systems, this is 3 bar.

WHERE IS THE OVERFLOW VALVE?

In newer central heating boilers, the overflow valve is often located inside the boiler itself. If this isn't the case, the valve is installed as close to the boiler as possible. In single-phase boilers, the valve is always located in the supply line. In combination boilers, the placement of the three-way valve also plays a role in determining whether the valve should be installed in the supply or return line. In older systems, you'll occasionally find the valve on a radiator in the bathroom. This is because any water from the valve can be collected in the shower drain.
